Teaching Your Family to Build Wealth That Lasts

Money conversations don't have to be awkward. We help Canadian families create investing strategies that work for everyone—from teenagers opening their first account to parents planning retirement together.

Why Family Investing Feels Different

Most investment education targets individuals. But your family's financial future isn't a solo project. When everyone understands the goals—whether it's funding education, buying property, or building retirement security—decisions get easier.

We've worked with families across British Columbia who were tired of generic advice that ignored their actual situation. One family in Victoria wanted to teach their kids about markets without overwhelming them. Another couple in Nanaimo needed to align their retirement timeline with supporting aging parents.

Our approach starts with conversations, not portfolios. We teach you how to have productive money discussions that respect different comfort levels and knowledge gaps within your household.

What We Actually Teach

Market Fundamentals

Understanding how stocks, bonds, and ETFs actually work—without the jargon that makes people tune out. We explain compound growth using real examples from Canadian markets.

Risk Assessment

Different family members have different comfort with volatility. We help you figure out appropriate asset allocation based on timelines and tolerance, not generic age formulas.

Account Structures

TFSAs, RRSPs, RESPs—Canada has great tax-advantaged accounts. We show you which ones make sense for your family's specific situation and how to coordinate between them.

Cost Management

Fees eat returns quietly. Learn how to evaluate management expense ratios, understand advisor compensation models, and decide when DIY investing makes sense versus hiring help.

Portfolio Review

Markets shift, life changes, goals evolve. We teach ongoing portfolio maintenance—when to rebalance, how to assess performance, what adjustments matter versus noise.

Communication Skills

Money triggers emotions. We provide frameworks for family financial discussions that acknowledge different perspectives while moving toward shared decisions.

How Families Work With Us

  • Initial Assessment

We start with a conversation about your current situation—who manages money now, what's working, where confusion exists. No judgment, just clarity about starting points.

  • Foundation Sessions

Core concepts delivered at a pace that works for your schedule. These cover market mechanics, account types, and risk frameworks. Most families complete this phase in 8-10 weeks.

  • Strategy Development

You'll build a personalized investment approach based on your family's timeline, goals, and comfort level. This isn't a template—it reflects your actual circumstances.

  • Implementation Support

Opening accounts, transferring assets, setting up automatic contributions—practical steps that often trip people up. We walk through the process until you're confident.

  • Ongoing Guidance

After the program, you'll know how to manage portfolios independently. But we're available for questions when life changes—new jobs, inheritances, major purchases.

Real Learning, Real Results

We've been teaching family investing since 2019. Started in Parksville when a friend asked me to explain TFSAs to their adult kids. Turned out lots of families needed this—education that acknowledged different knowledge levels without talking down to anyone.

Our program runs twice yearly, starting in September and March. We keep groups small—usually 6-8 families—because this works best with active discussion, not lecture halls. Sessions happen weekly for three months, with flexible online options for families across BC.

You won't get guarantees about returns—nobody can honestly promise that. But you will understand how markets work, how to evaluate investment options critically, and how to have productive money conversations that strengthen your family's financial foundation.

Next program starts September 2026. If you want to learn whether this approach fits your situation, we offer a free 30-minute consultation. No sales pitch, just honest conversation about family investing education.
